2011 - Laureate of "Paryz" Competition

Ulba Metallurgical Plant became a laureate of “Paryz” competiton

Ulba Metallurgical Plant Joint-Stock Company became a laureate of “Paryz” competition for the business social responsibility in the nomination for the “The Best Socially Responsible Company”.
“Paryz” bronze prize was presented to UMP JSC Executive Board Chairman, Mr. Yuryi Shakhvorostov at the award ceremony which was held on December 9 in Astana in the presence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The policy of socially responsible business is an important part of the development strategy of UMP. Following its principles, UMP JSC is involved in solving social problems of its personnel, local population and society as a whole.
This year, UMP implemented such significant projects for the region as reconstruction of Children's Health Camp named after A. Matrosova and construction of kindergarten "Balbobek".
Over the years, UMP has been contributing to improvement of Ust-Kamenogorsk. In August this year, on the initiative and at the expenses of the company, a bust - monument was opened to a triple Hero of Socialist Labor, Minister of Medium Machine Building of the USSR, Honorary Citizen of Ust-Kamenogorsk, E.P. Slavsky.
UMP invests in implementation of many social programs. After reconstruction, the Central Palace of Culture “ULBA” became a modern recreation center of Ust-Kamenogorsk residents. Every summer, plant workers and residents of the region have rest at comfortable plant recreation center Sibiny. Kindergartens of subsidiary of Ulbinochka Preschool Organization LLP are visited not only by children of UMP employees, but also by residents of the regional center.
For many years, UMP has a Collective Agreement, which enshrines additional benefits and compensation payments granted to plant employees above the norms guaranteed by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
For the second year, the company has an agreement on voluntary medical insurance in case of illness, which regulates provision of medical assistance to plant employees. Plant employees receive high-quality medical care in clinics equipped with modern equipment and highly qualified specialists. Today, UMP JSC is the only one among large industrial companies of Ust-Kamenogorsk that has undertaken to participate in voluntary medical insurance program for its employees.
UMP JSC constantly provides sponsorship to Specialized Orphanage of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk preschool orphanage. Organizations of veterans and people with disabilities receive financial support; targeted assistance is provided to socially vulnerable groups of population. Last year, UMP JSC allocated over 400 million tenge for charitable purposes.
Every year, over 10 million tenge is allocated by the plant for maintenance of sport and fitness groups and holding of sports events for plant employees.
Ulba Metallurgical Plant Joint-Stock Company fully shares principles of corporate social responsibility adopted today by most developed countries and strictly follows them in its activities.
