2011 - UMP JSC was called the best company in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the most effective innovation support systemUlba Metallurgical Plant Joint-Stock Company became the winner of "Rationalizer.KZ" national innovative solutions competition in the nomination "The Best Innovation Support System in the Company."
The award ceremony was held on December 6 as part of “Innovative Kazakhstan - A Look into the Future after 20 Years of an Independence” Innovation Forum at the Independence Palace in Astana city.
Ulba Metallurgical Plant was represented by Mr. Yuri Shakhvorostov, Chairman of UMP JSC Executive Board. The winner's certificate was presented to him by Mr. Karim Massimov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

UMP JSC winning the "Rationalizer.KZ" competition was the result of systematic organizational work aimed at supporting innovative ideas of the company's employees. The plant has established a regulatory framework that provides favorable conditions for the development of innovative activities. There are standards and instructions defining the procedure for industrial properties protection; registration, submission, consideration and use of innovation proposals; remuneration for company's invention. The Regulation on Remuneration for an Idea is in effect.
The award established in 2000 named after the former Director of UMP V.P. Potanin has a special role in the development of scientific and technical creativity of the plant workers, it is awarded for outstanding achievements in creating new equipment and technology at the level of the best world analogues and above, as well as for success in implementing fundamental and applied works. Thirty-seven employees of UMP and its subsidiaries have won the award since its establishment. Since 2006, 10,000 Improvements Program has been effective at Ulba Metallurgical Plant, it is aimed at creating an effective management system based on the principles of continuous improvement with maximum involvement of the company's employees.

There are responsible representatives for innovation and inventive work in the company departments, their role is to assist innovators go from the birth of an idea to its implementation in practice. Over the past 11 years, employees of the plant have submitted 99 applications for inventions. The total economic effect of their implementation amounted to about one billion 190 million tenge. Background Information
"Rationalizer.KZ" competition is held by National Innovation Fund JSC supported by the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan in two categories "Best Innovation Solution of the Year" and "Best Innovation Support System in the Company". The project’s goal is to stimulate the creative potential of innovators in improving the efficiency of production processes at various Kazakhstan companies, as well as to identify and encourage both the innovators and the companies that implement innovation proposals.
