2015 – UMP JSC is a winner of the “PARYZ-2015” republican competition in the nomination for the “Contribution to the Environment" with the award of the golden prize

Golden prize of "PARYZ" is ours!

Ulba Metallurgical Plant Joint Stock Company (UMP) became a winner of the “PARYZ-2015” competition for the business social responsibility in the nomination for the “Contribution to the Environment” among major business entities.

“PARYZ” golden prize was awarded to Anatoliy Kuchkovskiy, the UMP’s Deputy Executive Board Chairman – Senior Operating Officer, at the award ceremony on December 11 in Astana. The victory in the nomination is a high assessment of the systemic environmental activities that have been carried out at UMP for decades. The primary attention of the company is paid to preserving the environmental safety of production, preventing accidents and emergency situations, and reducing harmful environmental impacts. This is facilitated by the use of advanced technologies, equipment and automated control systems. To achieve environmental goals UMP has developed long-term environmental programs for which implementation the management of the company allocates significant funds. This year only investments in environmental protection at UMP amounted to over 314.2 mln. tenge. Special attention is paid to the primary environmental problem of the Ust-Kamenogorsk city such as air pollution. To solve it, the company is engaged in the optimization of ventilation systems and the improvement of dust and gas treatment facilities at the major operation divisions. Quality of atmospheric air, surface water, groundwater and soil are permanently monitored. The existing technologies are being improved and new technologies are introduced to ensure environmental safety and upgrade of products. The results of the control, annual analysis of the atmospheric air and surface water indicate that the UMP’s production activities do not adversely affect the environmental components.
