April 2016 – UMP JSC is a winner of the “Senim-2016” republican competition in the nomination of the “Best Occupational Safety and Health Office” with the award of the Winner Diplomay

Deserved Victory
Ulba Metallurgical Plant Joint Stock Company (UMP) became a winner of the annual “Senim-2016” competition for the occupational safety and health among the employers of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the nomination of the “Best Occupational Safety and Health Office”. The award ceremony was held in Astana on April 28 on the World Labor Protection Day. 
People health and life protection has been and remains the topical task of both the state and employers. For this purpose, events are arranged to attract public attention to the problems of occupational safety and health. This problem is fundamental for the concept of KIOSH-2016 - the Kazakhstan International Conference and Exhibition on Occupational Health and Safety. Within the framework of this project the “Senim” competition on occupational safety and health is held annually among the employers. Based on the competition results of this year UMP became a winner in the nomination of the “Best Occupational Safety and Health Office”. Sergey Sidorov, the UMP’s Production Safety Director, received the Winner Diploma from the hands of Birzhan Nurymbetov, Vice Minister of Health and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Winning such a prestigious republican competition is not an easy task. However this proved to be possible for the UMP’s Office of the Production Safety Director. For the years the Office operation its employees have done a great job. It included the introduction of a system of occupational health and safety standards, activities on the improvement of conditions in the workshops of the key operation   divisions, active prevention of occupational diseases as well as the development of the annual "Comprehensive Plan for the Improvement of Working Conditions, Occupational Safety and Health and Sanitation", which implementation assumed more than 188 mln. tenge this year. 

The UMP’s applicable management system for occupational safety and health has been certified in 2010 in accordance with the OHSAS 18001. Such certificate indicates that the company constantly monitors occupational risks and takes care of people safety at workplaces. Every day we are faced with the activities of the Office of the Production Safety Director in different directions, including occupational health and safety, environmental protection, nuclear, radiation, fire and industrial safety. Once again this huge mechanism has got a well-deserved evaluation at the national level such as taking premier place in the “Senim-2016” competition.
