Heroes Among Us

Factory workers rescued neighbors from a fire.

On July 8, in the evening there was a fire in a building on Krylova Street. In an apartment on the fourth floor, furniture caught fire. Before the arrival of rescuers, two neighbors-Andrey Peresedov and Valery Semenkov, got word that a pensioner remained in the room, rushed to save her.

Andrey Peresedov is 39 years old and works as Production and Technical Department Engineer of Uranium Operations.

Andrey Peresedov smashed in a door and crawled into the smoke-filled apartment. Valery Semenkov was nearby and helped him. Having found the owner, Andrey took her out to the stair landing and handed her over to the firefighters who arrived. Doctors of Center of Disaster Medicine provided first aid to the pensioner. The fire was successfully extinguished.

– When they called me and said that the neighbor's house was on fire, I didn't hesitate to run out in what I was wearing – shorts and flip flops. I shouted for the firemen to be called, and Valeryi and I rushed to smash in a door. Everything happened quickly? literally within three or four minutes. An elderly woman didn't even need to be hospitalized, – Andrey Valeryevich modestly shares his memories.

Pavel Volkov is 63 years old, he is an Operator of Workshop No. 1, Beryllium Operations.

Just three days later, on July 11, another Plant employee, Pavel Volkov, saved his neighbors from a fire.

It was like this. There was a fire about 8 p.m. in the evening on Slavsky Street in the apartment on the first floor. Pavel Volkov who lives next door found smoke, woke up a woman and her son who lived in the apartment and took them outside.

– In the evening I went out on the balcony, I felt smoke from below. I thought something was wrong. I went down to the first floor, and there were already other neighbors knocking on the door. No one opened. I left the entrance, went to the window, took off the mosquito net and climbed into the apartment. It was good that there were no bars.I roused the neighbor's son, then saw a burning mattress. I threw it in the tub and filled it with water. Then I saw my neighbor. During this time, I had to run out twice to the entrance. Because of the smoke, there was not enough air, – Pavel Valentinovich told.

Personnel of the Plant admires the heroic deeds and courage of their colleagues!
