The second fruit

An official ceremony of acceptance of fuel assemblies manufactured by Ulba-FA LLP took place at the end of May at the site of Nuclear Power Plant in Fangchenggang, China.

The transfer of the product was witnessed by Mr. Dosbolat Sarymsakov, NAC Kazatomprom JSC Chief NFC Officer, Mr. Vladimir Vakhnenko, UMP JSC First Deputy Executive Board Chairman – Chief Engineer and Mr. Arman Suleimenov, Ulba-FA LLP Director General.

– More than 30 t of the product in Uranium equivalent passed quality control and was accepted by the Chinese party without any comments. After the planned loading of the fuel into the reactor, electricity generation and delivery to the Chinese consumers will begin – Mr. Vakhnenko said.

Ulba-FA LLP fabricates AFA3G^TM fuel assemb-lies to be loaded into reactors of the NPPs in China. The plant has successfully obtained all licenses required in atomic energy use. As of today, our Chinese partner –CGNPC-URC, has placed 12 orders for delivery of the FAs. Two orders have already been implemented. 136 FAs have been successfully transferred to the Chinese NPPs. The next delivery is to be performed in July, 2023.

In 2024 we plan to reach the estimated capacity of the plant that is 200 t of Uranium per year in terms of FAs. The enterprise team realizes the scope of work to be performed to execute the contracted obligations, deliberately and systematically forms technical and technological infrastructure and introduces production practices and quality culture.

The technological equipment of the plant allows increasing the production of the fuel up to 400 t of Uranium per year both for Chinese market, and a perspective atomic energy field in the Republic of Kazakhstan, provided a set of organizational measures will be introduced.
