Mining and Processing Complex

In 1997, in search of options for reducing the cost of hydrofluoric acid production, it was decided to replace the imported fluorspar raw materials with its own, mined in Kazakhstan. Geological exploration was carried out in the area of the Karadzhal fluorite field. In July 2002, a project was developed for pilot development, and pilot production of Karadzhal fluorite deposit began. In November 2004, a comprehensive report was finalized and submitted to the State Geological Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, encompassing a meticulous calculation of the reserves of fluorspar ore within the deposit, coupled with a meticulous assessment of the projected resources along the peripheries of the ore body.

In 2005, an enrichment plant was built in Kurchatov, in November 2006, commissioning was completed at the factory, and in December 2006 it was officially put into operation.

Now Karadzhal mine and the processing plant in Kurchatov are part of the GOK of UMP JSC, which extracts quartz-fluorite ore and produces fluorspar concentrate of the FF-95A brand (GOST 29219-91 "Hydrofluoric acid and ceramic concentrates"). FF-95A is used in production of electrolytic aluminum, hydrofluoric acid, anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, heat-resistant glass pipes, glass beads, fiberglass and high-quality silicate enamels, special optics.

Mining and Processing Complex

The reserves of quartz-fluorite ore at Karadzhal mine are sufficient to be confident in the future of mining and processing production for the foreseeable future. The processing plant fully covers the plant’s own needs for fluorinated raw material.

UMP JSC actively cooperates in the supply of fluorspar concentrate with enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation and far abroad.

There are only positive and bright moments ahead in the development of the mining and processing complex with a large number of partners and buyers of fluorspar concentrate.
