The Value of 37 Liters
37 liters – this is exactly how much donor blood Ulba Metallurgical Plant employees donated over two days. 82 company workers took part in another Donor Day, replenishing the regional blood bank.
After processing, the blood will be separated into vital components – red blood cells, plasma and platelets. Thanks to this, a single donation can help three patients at once. This means that UMP donors are giving a chance for recovery to more than 200 people.
Modern science has learned to replicate many processes, but there is still no artificial alternative to human blood. It cannot be synthesized in a laboratory or replaced by a chemical composition. The only source remains people who are ready to give half an hour of their time to save a stranger. For our factory workers, such campaigns have long become a good tradition.
«We are sincerely grateful to the UMP employees for their responsiveness and readiness to help those they may never meet. It is thanks to them that more than one life has been saved,» noted Mira Mustafina, Public Relations Manager of the East Kazakhstan Regional Blood Center.
