EVERYTHING Under Control
There have been major changes to UMP vehicle fleet management. Traditional methods have been replaced by a digital monitoring and tracking system – Omnicomm Online.
The new system has been introduced to monitor and improve personnel discipline. When a vehicle sets off on a route, the manager knows exactly where it is. The second key factor is strict adherence to speed limits. If the speed limit on the factory premises is 30 km/h, it is forbidden to exceed this limit by even 2 km/h.
The whole of Kazakhstan is divided into geographical zones. Road sections are clearly mapped out and permitted speeds are set. The plant’s regulations are often stricter than the national Highway Code. For example, whilst the speed limit on a motorway is 110 km/h, the permitted speed for UMP drivers is 100 km/h. 100 per cent of vehicles are fitted with satellite trackers.
Omnicomm Online software incorporates a comprehensive analytics module. For example, the ‘Reports’ section allows for detailed analysis of violations, the creation of driver rankings, monitoring of fuel dispensing, tracking of journey completion, vehicle servicing and visits to geozones.
In addition to GPS monitoring, the state-run ESUTD (Unified Transport Document Management System) is being implemented. Now, no vehicle with a load capacity of 1.5 tonnes or more, or seating capacity of more than 8 passengers, will be allowed on the road without authorization and an electronic waybill featuring a QR code. All documentation, including pre-journey medical examinations and consignment notes, is completed electronically and signed with an electronic digital signature. These new digital tools provide full control over the vehicle fleet and enable the company to operate as efficiently as possible.
