Quality Under Control
Before a micro-thin tantalum ribbon just 0.25 millimeters thick reaches Fariza Karmeneva, QC Master of Tantalum Products Quality Control Bureau at the Test Center, it undergoes nearly 8 days of intensive production work. During this time, the metal passes through the hands of 17 metallurgists, undergoing 3 melts, 3 furnaces, 4 rolling mills, 4 annealings, 2 pressings and 2 chemical cleaning stages.
The Quality Control Bureau is one of the most critical elements of the quality management system. This is exactly where products are monitored at all stages: from participating in the development of regulatory documentation to issuing documents that certify the quality of the finished products.
The inspectors’ responsibilities include monitoring and testing finished products, identifying non-conformances with regulatory and technical documentation, monitoring storage conditions and preparing documentation. QCB inspectors test and inspect various types of products – ingots, ribbons, bars, trays, discs, foils, wires and other items – while also checking packaging, labeling, storage conditions and issuing quality certificates.
