The Profession Where There Is No Place for Error
A professional competition was held in Shymkent amongst employees of subsidiaries of NAC Kazatomprom JSC. Specialists from the electrical services demonstrated their knowledge and practical skills.
Defending the honor of Ulba Metallurgical Plant were Azamat Galiev, a Grade 6 Electrician specializing in the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment for uranium production, Adilbek Amerkhanov, a Grade 5 Electrician specializing in the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment for tantalum production, and Alexander Petrukhin, acting Electrical Foreman and a Grade 6 Electrician specializing in beryllium production.
The competition programme combined theory and practice. In the first stage, participants demonstrated their knowledge of industry standards and regulations through a written test. This was followed by the practical section, which was designed to replicate real production conditions as closely as possible. The next task required a high degree of technical precision – the bench assembly of an electric motor connection diagram based on a schematic diagram, taking into account every stage of the work, the correctness of the connections and compliance with health and safety regulations. Based on the results of all the tests, UMP team demonstrated a high level of proficiency and came fourth.
