Voices Inspired by Abay
In Astana, Kazatomprom held a competition dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayuly called «Sөzі altyn hәkim Abay». Danil Stepanov and Serzhan Adilbekov represented UMP in the competition.
Participants were evaluated in two categories: expressive reading of works and live performance of Abay’s songs.
Danil Stepanov, BA&RMD specialist, recited excerpts 4 and 37 from Abay’s «Words of Instruction» and the poem «Gylim tappay maktanba» from memory. And Serzhan Adilbekov, Research Engineer at Tantalum Laboratory of the Research Centre, sang Abai Kunanbayev's song «Zhelsiz tundja zaryq ai».
A wonderful gift for all the participants in the final competition was a unique three-day trip to Abay District, the place where the great poet lived and worked.
